Deaf-Blind Services

The Deaf-Blind Program coordinates services to individuals who have been identified as having a combination of hearing and vision loss in varying degrees. This is a collaborative partnership between The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Office for the Blind. This partnership allows for resource sharing between the two agencies in the provision of services to the deaf-blind population across the Commonwealth. There are two Deaf-Blind Service Coordinators in Kentucky. One is employed by Office for the Blind and the other for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Services We Provide:

Several staff may work together to provide the services needed by an individual who is deaf-blind. Services may be provided by a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf, a Communication Specialist, and a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Blind. The Office for the Blind Deaf-Blind Service Coordinator will coordinate services for individuals who are deaf-blind that may include the following.

  • Person Centered Planning
  • Support Services
  • Support Service Providers Information
  • Training
  • Job Placement
