Work Experience Program

The basis for this program is the understanding that in order to prepare persons with disabilities for life and work, it is necessary to provide them with exposure to and experience in dealing with the demands and expectations of real job situations in the community. This program is subject to the following conditions:

1. A contract shall be entered into by this agency and the provider to designate

the length of the work experience, not to exceed 520 hours, and the number

of hours to be worked each week.

2. The agency will provide reimbursement to the provider for the negotiated wage.

3. The person in the program is not an employee of the provider and is therefore

not eligible for any fringe benefits.

4. Performance reports will be needed from the provider in order to monitor the

trainee’s progress.

5. The work experience contract can be terminated before completion if this

arrangement is not being beneficial to the trainee or to the provider or if

there is a lack of work and trainee is not needed on the job.
