ON-JOB-TRAINING
1. On-the-job training shall be limited to the amount necessary to fit the individual
in the vocational objective at the entrance level: not to exceed 3 months.
2. A negotiated wage will be provided to the employer during the contract period.
For contract purposes, the standard 40 hour week is used. Overtime or holiday
arrangements is the concern of the vendor.
3. The employer is obligated to pay the trainee at least the full legal minimum
wage. The client must also receive the compensation coverage, benefits and
privileges that accrue to other employees. No sub-minimal wage certificates
can be requested nor issued under this plan of training. (Work Opportunities
Tax credit cannot be received during the period of on-the-job training.)
4. Progress reports must be provided in writing by the vendor at least on a
monthly basis.
5. If services continue to the end of the time indicated in the contract, the
employer has a commitment to retain the client/trainee as a regular
employee.
6. The OJT program can be stopped by the agency or employer when the
monthly reports indicate little or no progress by the client.
7. The client/trainee must be informed of his rights to payment and benefits
from the employer so there will be no misunderstandings as to who will pay
the client. Both trainee and employer must be fully aware that even though
this is considered on-the-job training, there actually shall exist an employee-
employer relationship.
