What We Do:

Our services include researching the availability of textbooks and procuring unavailable textbooks from various sources that are requested by students attending educational training programs in Kentucky. We request electronic text files from publishers and scan books in house to convert to an accessible format for students.

Accessible Textbook Services maintains the Kentucky Office for the Blind Library of completed textbooks which houses approximately 2000 books.

How We Do It:

Individuals are referred to us by Rehabilitation Counselors and Disability Service Providers. After obtaining specific textbook information we begin searching for available materials. If these cannot be located, we request electronic text files from the publishers. If publishers cannot provide us with the files, then individuals must provide us with print copies of needed books for scanning and editing purposes. Upon completion, textbooks are provided on computer disks which require the use of screen reading programs to access.

Why We Do It:

We provide accessible textbook services to individuals in order to enhance their learning endeavors and support them in achieving their educational goals.
